Current Projects

I’m currently conducting a study on social media and gender-based violence as they relate to Facebook and Canadian youth. Click here to visit my project’s website: www.comehangout.ca

I am also working on publications relating to the gendered design of Facebook and Facebook cultures, as well as work associated with my PhD that deals with the changing nature of journalism practice, particularly the relationships between news production and new media.

Past Projects

My previous work stems from my PhD project which examined the production of news in light of the technological transformations taking place within the newsroom, out in the field, and within the public realm.

Teaching Experience

I have taught in the areas of communications, media, journalism, cultural studies, gender, sociology, politics, research methods and critical social and feminist theory.

In this 2011-2012 academic year I am teaching ‘Social Media and Gender’ and ‘Gendered Communication.’

Community Work

I am an active member of the Ottawa Coalition to End Violence Against Women and a Board Member and volunteer at the Ottawa Rape Crisis Centre.
